The course typically features a dynamic blend of coastal and rural Australian landscapes, starting with a challenging 10km inland climb from Lorne towards Deans Marsh, averaging just above 4%. After navigating rolling roads and country townships, riders face critical corners in a slightly downhill run, often battling coastal winds, culminating in a high-speed sprint finish along The Esplanade by the beach in Torquay. This makes it a tactical race, suiting both powerful sprinters and opportunistic breakaway specialists.
